BCAM's Annual General Meeting

BCAM's Annual General Meeting was held on September 18th, at 5035 Boul. de Maisonneuve West at 7 p.m. Members were welcomed by the president, Carol Secter. The business part of the meeting included approval of the Financial Report read by Maychai Brown in the absence of Terrye Perlman, Treasurer; reading of the Annual and Committee Reports, and presentation of nominations by Rose Alper.

The following were elected to the Board of Directors for 2007–2008: Carol Secter, President; Susan Hertzberg, Vice-President; Terrye Perlman, Treasurer, and board members Rose Alper, Avis Antel, Deena Dlusy-Apel, Christine M. Kupka, and Carole Summers. On behalf of the Board and membership, Rose Alper thanked Janine O’Leary Cobb for her outstanding work on the BCAM Board for the past seven years and announced that Janine has graciously accepted to be an Honorary Member of the Board. She will also continue as editor of the BCAM Bulletin.

A 40-minute documentary, “Of Mice and Women: Modeling Breast Cancer and the Environment”, was shown. The DVD, produced by the Bay Area Breast Cancer & Environment Research Centre, explains the cellular changes in breast cells and why mouse models are ideal for this particular field of research. A discussion and refreshments followed the presentation.
