BCAM'S New Workshop Project
Jane Shulman
Volunteers from BCAM's speakers' bureau have been presenting: Breast Cancer As We See It" to community groups and in classrooms for nearly two years. It is a far-reaching look at breast cancer prevention and environmental links to the disease. Audiences love the power point presentation, and requests keep pouring in. At the same time, as the two-year-long Health and Environmental Awareness Project concludes, we have been looking for ways to use the project’s excellent resources long-term.
And so, in September, the Breast Cancer Prevention in Action project (BCPA) was born.
With the financial support of la Fondation Solstice, we have designed a year-long project, offering new and updated workshops. We recognize that the breast cancer prevention message has not yet reached women and girls from diverse socio-economic, cultural and racial backgrounds in great numbers. We hope to broaden BCAM’s impact by going out into the community with our message, “Breast cancer doesn’t have to happen.”
