FUNDRAISING CONCERT
On November 20, 2010 the Shaar Hashomayim Sisterhood hosted an outstanding musical evening entitled “All the Things You Are.” It was their second annual benefit concert in support of Breast Cancer Action Montreal (BCAM). Stephen Glass, Director of Music at the Synagogue, Cantor Zelermyer and the Synagogue Choir were joined by singers and musicians from the traditions of opera, Broadway, and Jewish cantorial and choral music who volunteered their time and talent to produce another memorable evening of songs celebrating women. A delicious dessert reception was held after the performance where attendees could meet the performers.
The original idea for this event was suggested by Peggy Sakow, a long-time member and supporter of BCAM who, with the assistance of Ted Lazarus, helped organize this very successful evening that raised over $2000.
VOLUNTEER
BREAST CANCER ACTION MONTREAL NEEDS A VOLUNTEER WITH EXPERTISE IN THE AREAS OF CANCER/HEALTH SCIENCES – and a bit of time throughout the year. We need someone who is able to write short “news briefs” in English about important cancer and health-related issues (new studies, meta-analyses, newspaper reports of breakthroughs, etc.) that would be published in our newsletter three times per year. We would send you a link to a study or report and you would condense the information – retaining its importance, essential meaning and focus – into understandable language for the lay public. If you are a graduate student, professor, or retired academic who wants to help, please call 514-483-1846 and ask for Chris. <bcam.qc.ca>
